Super Smash Bros. 3DS Demo Review

So about a week and a half ago Nintendo sent me some demo codes for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.
After giving the extra codes away to my friends and people who asked nicely, I decided to play it...
And since the public demo was released last Friday, I figured I'd finally share my thoughts on it.

But before I do that...
  • Battle Mode is the only mode
  • Final Destination is the only stage
  • There are only five playable characters (Mario, Link, Pikachu, the Villager, and Mega Man)

So my thoughts?
It's fun.
That's it.
Here's the part where IGN hires me as a reviewer.

Thank you.
I'll see you next time.

But all jokes aside, it is truly a fun game.
Sure I'm judging from what I played in a demo, but it did it's job and got me excited for October 3rd.

It's on the 3DS so there's a lot to get used to. Mainly the controls and the screen size.
There's a reason why the characters have a dark border around them.
It's so they're easier to see while playing.

Once you get used to it, you'll have fun...
Don't expect a super competitive game,
Expect a fun way to kill some time.

This isn't Melee, it isn't Brawl... It's the 3DS demo version for SSB4.

With that said, I do expect the WiiU version to be a lot better.
Handheld versions of Console games are hard to do right and don't do the console version Justice.

In this case, I think Nintendo, HAL Labs, and Namco did a great job and I can't wait to play the full game.

Mega Man was as awesome as I expected, the Villager was also fun to play as and may become part of my character rotation.

October 3rd can't come any sooner and should hold me over... At least until ORAS come out.

Thoughts on Gotham

You know what no one asked for?
Another Batman origin.

You wanna know what no one REALLY asked for?
A Batman origin WITHOUT Batman.

Seems very counter-productive.
But alas we got Gotham.
A Crime Drama that takes place in a Pre-Batman Gotham City.

Gotham follows Commissioner Gordon... Detective Jim Gordon,
as he tries his best to clean up Gotham.

Without spoiling it,

I like it so far.
It isn't the best DC Comics show...
but it's the best live-action Show about Gotham City before Batman on TV right now.
So it has that going for it.

One major gripe that I have is that the Pilot had WAY too many cameos.

A few cameos would've been great, but I felt they were putting in way too many out of fear that Batman fans would stop watching.
They don't need to over-saturate the show with Cameos.
Sprinkle the cameos in randomly, it'll work better that way.

But maybe they're scared they'll get cancelled after one season...
Like Fox does with a lot of great shows...
*cough* *cough* Firefly

5 Heroes/Teams I Want to See Turned into Shows

DC/Warner Bros. my be having a bit weak on the big screen, but they seem to have the small screen locked down.

With the popular Arrow, the soon to premiere Flash and Gotham that premiered tonight you'd think that DC would have enough on their hands...
Nope. They recently announced a Teen Titans show with Nightwing as the lead, and a Supergirl show...

I'm not a math major but I'm pretty sure that's 5 shows.

So here are 5 (live action) shows based on DC Heroes that I'd like to see...
in no particular order...

5) Aquaman - Aquaman gets no respect. He's one of my favorites who's severely underrated. He controls 70% of Earth. Let's show the (Aqua)Man some respect.
If you like him or not, there's no denying that the setting alone will be set up some adventures and stories that cannot be told in any other series, with any other hero.
The CW can call it something like... "ATLANTIS" or "AQUA"
that ladies and gentlemen is another reason why I won't be allowed to name my kid.

4) Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) and Booster Gold - Need I say more? Yes. I have to. I need substance for this blog.
Their relationship is a fun one and will lend for some awesome stories and moments. It's like a much better buddy cop show. MUCH BETTER.

3) Static - Static is probably best known for his Saturday morning cartoon. As bright as the show was the comics had a MUCH darker tone which would work perfectly on TV. Not just that but Static being a Teenager will also mean different problems than Oliver Queen or Barry Allen.

2) Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) - For a lot of the same reasons as Static. Teenage Hero has a different set of problems than their Adult counterparts. But Jaime is different than Static... he has an Alien Scarab attached to his back which gives him his powers. Jaime has very little control of it at the start and slowly gains more control.
Trying to live a normal life at the same time = great television.

1) Green Lantern Corps. - Not Just Hal Jordan or Jon Stewart,,, all of them. Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, and even Alan Scott.
This one is probably going to be the hardest to pull off... but this is my list and I'm not taking the logistics into consideration,
Also, it may seem biased since I'm a HUGE Green Lantern fan... that's because it is...
I'm biased. I'm totally biased but GLC would make a great show.
Think of all the best/popular cop shows... now put them in space... yeah. Space Cops.
Call it "OA" and throw it on the CW.
Just keep Martin Campbell away from this. Far. Far away.

Are there any heroes you'd like to see on the Small Screen?

Let me know!

VGHS at The Streamys

I'd like to take some time to congratulate everyone at RocketJump.

They're some of the hardest working group of people I've ever gotten to meet.
Their hard work and dedication is getting some well-deserved recognition.
They took home some Streamys for Video Game High School last night.

The won awards in the following categories:

  • Ensemble Cast
  • Directing
  • Action and Sci-Fi
They were also nominated in several others, but unfortunately didn't take those home.

They've announced, and teased some upcoming projects which make me excited for their future.
I can't wait to see them continue to grow and to continue to gain success in whatever they do.

Steam: My Addiction

I have a problem.

It's a First World Problem, possibly the most first world problem there is.
but it's a problem nonetheless.

I have 68 games in my Steam Library... 63 of which I haven't even opened yet.

In my defense I own the console versions of some of these games, so I never felt the need to play them...
Actually... That probably makes things worse doesn't it?

My lack of self-control is not to blame here...
I blame Humble Bundles & Steam Sales.

I never understood how a girl can buy a pair of shoes that she didn't need until I experienced my first Steam Summer Sale.

and never play it...

There are a games that I've bought more than once.
Just because they were on sale...
I already owned them, I hadn't even played them... but shit, they were 99cents!
I'm not sure what's worse, my addiction to buying Steam Games or making a Macklemore reference.

No but really, this is a problem...
